The Future of Automotive Technology: What to Expect in the Next Decade

Auto repair shop software

The automotive industry is going through a huge change that can impact the lives of people in future.

Hearing about electric cars and environmental issues is no new to people. As more and more people are becoming climate change activists the demand for EVs are increasing.

But with the introduction of artificial intelligence things are not like the past. Now as people have access to AI more new ideas related to cars are being introduced.

And now AI is taking over the automotive industry like crazy and it is not only conquering the automotive industry but also AI is now being integrated into automotive repair software which is going to take shop management to a different level.

Today I am going to discuss what the future holds for the automotive industry.

And  I am not just going to discuss electric vehicles and AI but we will be going deeper and are going to go one step ahead of AI and electric vehicles.

Overall technological advancements in automotive industry

Driverless cars

Driverless cars use sensors and cameras to allow them to speed up or speed down, read signs on the road and make sure to change lanes when needed. You don’t need to steer, accelerate, apply brakes, you just need to sit in your car calmly and enjoy the ride.

This is basic information and is known to most people.

But what if we go one step ahead and try to guess what these driverless cars will look like in future?

Well firstly, these cars might undergo design improvement. Since these cars don’t need any kind of seat paddle and other essential  elements there will be more space available to customize seating arrangement by making it more comfortable.

Secondly, there connectivity is going to be improved a lot and it will be able to connect to the internet allowing passengers to relax while they are on their way. Also these cars might be able to connect to traffic systems and adjust their routes accordingly.

AI algorithms will be added and these cars will be able to interact with passengers. Passengers will be able to connect their cars to their digital watches or they might be able to give orders to their car through voice helping in enhancing security and better control of the car.

V2V connectivity

V2V technology will allow the vehicles to connect to each other and share real-time data with each other. Due to this cars will be able to share information on the road which will help in increasing safety and overall efficiency.

And the good news is that many big companies are working on this feature. Stellantis, a collaboration between Fiat-Chrysler-Alfa Romeo (FCA) and the French PSA group has outlined a software strategy in order to achieve this. Mercedes benz has also aimed for 20 million vehicles till 2025.

Predictive vehicle technology

You probably have heard of predictive maintenance software that can help in predicting the lifespan of body parts. And you must be  thinking this predictive vehicle technology might be the same.

If yes!!

Then you are completely wrong. Let me break it down for you.

Predictive vehicle technology uses AI and machine learning to enhance driving experience and make vehicles more smarter. Here are proper insights of this technology and how this technology helps:

Personalized setup

Predictive capabilities in a car use machine learning algorithms to give more personalised driving experience. For example if you enter in your car it can adjust the seating arrangement of the car according to your preferences or it can set the volume of speakers or play the song for you based on previous data which will help in giving you a more personalised experience.

Maintenance alerts

This technology makes use of sensors in order to keep an eye on parts of the car. Based on data analysis it can predict which parts of your car are faulty and need maintenance.

Here is the fun part: this technology goes beyond predicting faulty parts. It can contact local repair shops and can schedule appointments for you, making the whole process of appointment schedule more convenient.

Advancements in battery technology

As you know, the battery is a crucial part for EVs and by enhancing it we could enhance the performance of EVs . Here are some advancements that we might see in the future.

Energy density

Researchers are looking to increase the energy density of batteries which means they are looking for a way to store more or less amount of battery in the same or less space.

Higher energy density will lead to longer driving ranges for EVs.

Longer life cycle

Battery longevity is an important aspect. Researchers are looking to improve the number of charge and discharge cycles a battery can endure before its performance degrades.

Overall. We might see some kind of technological advancements that can increase the driving range of EVs and at the same time will take less time to recharge at one run.

Technological advancements in automotive repair shop software

AI is also conquering the automotive repair shop softwares and are going to put these softwares on steroids which is going to completely transform how our techs and repair shops operate. Here are some advancements that we might see in the upcoming future.

AI powered diagnostics

With the help of AI we can pinpoint any issue within the car’s sensors easily. Instead of relying on techs trial and error method, AI can pinpoint the issue in a car such as specific component failure, software issues, or malfunctioning sensors.

Now this feature hasn’t finished yet, once the AI has identified the problem it can offer a step-by-step proven method for technicians improving accuracy of techs. This also helps in avoiding costly mistakes that might be done due to trial and error methods.

Advancements in tire shop billing softwares

Customer behaviour analytics

Advanced software can make use of data analytics tools and gain insights into the customer behaviour according to their expression and face patterns. This is going to help repair shop owners tailor marketing efforts, loyalty programs, and product offering to specific customer segments.

Overall automotive industry is going through a huge change whether it is the automotive repair software  industry or EVs or driverless cars and who knows we might see more advanced features in the upcoming future because with help of AI things can become more advanced than our current expectations.
